On the pic you can see Sultanahmet Meydanı or  by other name The Hippodrome of Constantinople was a circus  was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Theres is more historical and name information about this square  HERE.
This square is in capitol of Turkey  Istanbul. Biggest and most populated city in Turkey today. but in big and long history  this city changed a lot of names and was capitol of more then one empires, like  Roman Empire, Byzantine , Latin and ottoman empire.The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010. As is aid it also had lots of names such as Byzantum, Augusta Antonina, New Rome,  Constantinople, Tsarigrad etc... more about Istanbul names  HERE
