Åland Islands

NEW TERRITORY

Mariehamn, Aland Islands,  Finland August 2013

The Åland Islands or Åland (Swedish: Åland, Swedish pronunciation: Finnish: Ahvenanmaa) is an autonomous, demilitarised, monolingually Swedish-speaking region of Finland that consists of an archipelago lying at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea.

This postcard is sent from Mariehamn a capitol of Aland. I liked this card a lot and sent it on my adress :) yeah maybe little selfish but to me looked very nice. Info of ship is written on back ground of card as you can see. Mariehamn is very nice and cool place, with not so much things to do, i got conclusion that on Aland u can come and stay longer like seven or more days to get bike and enjoy all Islands there or to visit capitol before none and continue to Turku like it did.

Hi Eddie,
I am more of a stamp collector, but postcards interest me too since they usually have stamps in them  What I only know about Aaland is that it is an archipelago and it is a part of Finland. Great postcard of a ship here.
I searched for this dragonfly stamp at an online stamp catalogue I usually visit, and it was issued on June 4, 2012. It is entitled Insects – Dragonflies. It is part of a 2-stamp set. The scientific name is Sympetrum sanguineum.
